If you have lost a book please contact the Library as soon as possible with your Library card number and author/title details of the lost item.
A bill for the replacement cost of the book, as listed by our usual book supplier, is applied to your account; plus any overdue fines accrued to the date you report it as lost. The item remains on loan to your account until the replacement cost is paid via the Library online payments system or in cash at the Help Desk.
If the item is found and returned before the bill is paid the replacement cost is automatically waived but any overdue fines will be due.
If the replacement cost remains on your account for more than a few weeks the invoice is passed to Student Finance. At this point the item is no longer on your account but the invoice will be payable, even if the item is found and returned later. The university supplies the Library with funds to replace the item at the point the Library passes the bill to Finance and will recover those funds from you. Please ensure, if an item is reported lost and the replacement cost requested but it might still turn up, that you give us a likely time period to defer passing the bill to Finance.
We do not accept replacement copies of books.
