If the book is not returned by the new recall due date fines will begin to accrue at a rate of £2 per day.

If you still require the use of the item then, once you have returned it to the Library and it has been taken off your account, you may place a Click and Collect/Post request on the book yourself. This will generate the next available copy to be recalled for you. We will email you when a copy becomes available for your new request.

All Long Loan items are subject to recall if required for use by other users. If a user requires an item and all copies are out on loan they can place a Click and Collect/Post request on that title and get a copy recalled.

Generally we have approximately one copy of a title for every 10 students on a particular course/module. Therefore the items are recalled, if needed by others, to circulate them as fairly as possible around all students who need them.

Books are only loanable for the full 4 weeks plus 6 auto-renewals (28 weeks) if not required for use by another student.  If you are borrowing an item in high demand and there are already a number of requests for the title, the copy you are borrowing will likely only be issued to you for 1 week. Full details of our borrowing policies are available in our Using the Library guide.
