  1. Create or open your document - turn of Word's track changes facility - it may interfere with creation of the bibliography
  2. Log on to RefWorks
  3. Change the view in RefWorks to One Line / Cite View RefWorks One Line / Cite View
  4. Select and copy your citation (right-click on highlighted text)RefWorks citation placeholder code
  5. Paste the {{citation}} placeholder code into your document... RefWorks citation placeholder code pasted into document

  6. Keep saving your document as you add citations
  7. When you are finished, format your document and create your bibliography… RefWorks bibliography - format document
  8. Select your Output Style as required Select your RefWorks output style
  9. Select the document you are working onSelect your document
  10. You should see a “Processing” alert in the bottom right corner RefWorks - processing document alert (bottom right)
  11. Then another alert if the processing is successful RefWorks processing completed
  12. If your final document does not open, select the uppermost “click here” and then open the final version Open the formatted file
  13. If necessary, select “Enable Editing” to get the formatted document Enable editing (if necessary)
  14. Finally remember to save your final version to “My Documents” – do not leave it under the default location “Temporary Internet Files”!
