Q. Does the Library make available psychology tests and measures?

Psychology and other allied health and social sciences disciplines typically use established tests, scales, questionnaires and measures in the research. In some cases, these materials are published openly for the community to use and adapt, but more commonly they are developed and sold commercially by publishers and institutions. The Library are often asked if they can provide access to commercial psychology tests, but this is not possible because of cost and permissions reasons. The Library are not able to transfer the permission of use that often comes with acquisition of the resource.

If you are looking for a test:

  • Try the Library's Psychology LibGuide's suggestions on sites that link to psychology scales: Websites - Psychology - LibGuides at Brunel University Library
  • Look on a database like APA PsycInfo for your area of interest and filter by 'Tests and Measures' to find out if the test authors have provided the questionnaire and scoring as part of their publication.
  • It can be possible to apply to the test author directly to ask for access to and permission to use their test for educational purposes.
  • If you have joined Senate House Library, as part of Brunel's University of London federation access, you can also access the APA PsycTests platform, which provides more information about a range of psychology tests and where to find them.
